Let the Work Teach You!

The latest work by Jacqueline Novogratz, CEO and Founder of Acumen is a revelation. It is particularly suited for those interested in international social impact work, yet beyond this it offers all of us doing this work a set of principles to consider.

Chapter 1 is titled “Just Start,” and this is a thread running through the book. Novogratz writes, “Purpose does not reveal itself to those sitting safely at the starting black. In other words, you don’t plan your way into finding your purpose. You live into it.”

The book offers myriad international development stories, as well as practical advice for beginning and growing into a social impact career. I recommend this short manifesto to anyone in the midst of (or considering) changing the world.
